Principal Solution Architect

Position Overview

The Principal Solution Architect is directly responsible for the end-to-end design of complex MOM solutions across the portfolio which will provide guidance and leadership to clients in the areas of industry best practices for technology solution implementations to optimize manufacturing processes and increase operational effectiveness in collecting, storing, analyzing, processing, and interpreting data in compliance with industry expectations and regulations.

The Principal Solution Architect will also be responsible for leading the assessment and solutioning workshop for ‘plan to make’ business process digital transformation initiatives. It is intended that this position will also be responsible for providing tactical guidance to clients for establishing their Digital manufacturing Center of Excellence (COE) team, assist with their enterprise system landscape and global deployment strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct value assessment of client ‘plan to make’ business process,
  • Formulate digital transformation approach and technology enablers to help achieve overall client objective and goals.
  • Leads the establishment of client MES/MOM Programs and related phased roadmaps for successful transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and conduct solution workshop for manufacturing systems implementation, mapping manufacturing process to system functionalities to maximize the value realization with the client.
  • Key contributor in company RFP submissions and strategic account introductions
  • After the solution workshop, develop global or site level solution design document that defines the scope and boundary for manufacturing systems implementation.
  • After the solution workshop, work with client and internal team to recommend deployment strategy and implementation roadmap.
  • Due to the global nature of our company, it should be expected that from time to time, alternative work hours may be required to accommodate other geographies’ time zones. 
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership during the entire implementation project lifecycle to the functional and technical team.
  • Leads a team of architects in large program delivery
  • Work on client projects to drive business process improvements, system automation, continuous improvement, and other duties associated with manufacturing system implementation and support.
  • Additional responsibility will be to expand the skill base and develop further competencies in the company.
  • Must be able to manage various stakeholders at multiple levels of the client’s organization.
  • Provide solution and technical guidance to product development teams for building accelerators in the manufacturing system space.
  • Participate in Go-To Market activities – attend conferences, create marketing collaterals, participate in pre-sales activities.

Travel Required

  • Should be prepared to travel up to 25% of the time.

Certifications

  • MESA International Certificate of Competency (CoC) for MES/MOM Methodologies
  • APICS CPIM

Experiences/Qualifications

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Experienced in manufacturing processes and technologies to provide overall solution design services and strategic leadership to client and internal teams.
  • Experienced with large, multi-plant, global programs and is responsible for the overall quality of delivery on the assigned project.
  • Ability to deliver solutions of the highest quality.
  • Ability to manage and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead smaller engagements as a sole contributor.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills are a must.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Capable of understanding the importance of PLM, ERP, MES, Automation and Manufacturing Intelligence (Data Warehouse/Lakes, Reporting, Dashboards, KPIs, etc.) and where it fits in the overall MFG IT Portfolio.

Experience Required

  • 5 – 8 years of experience as Solution Architect.
  • 5 – 8 years of experience as technical or functional project leadership.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment / discipline or with manufacturing technology directly supporting manufacturing processes.
  • 10+ years of experience in providing solutions for implementation of MES Camstar / Siemens OpCenter or similar platform.
  • Complete life cycle implementation of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) product (e.g., Siemens OpCenter or similar platforms).
  • 5 – 8 years of experience with integration approaches, framework technologies, or other application integration toolsets. Hands-on expertise with the 3rd Party interfaces with the MES application like PLM, ERP, LIMS, Learning Management Equipment, HMI, CMMS etc.
  • Should have strong exposure to MES Product Administration and configuration.
  • Extensive Domain experience in Medical Devices or Semiconductor industry with the ability to map business requirements with manufacturing IT applications.

Desired as Ideal

  • Experience with Semiconductor or Electronics or Medical Device and/or Regulated Industry.
  • Experience with software quality assurance, validation and verification of Manufacturing Software.
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing & continuous improvement fundamentals.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Engineering, or related Field (or the equivalent experience) plus a minimum of ten years related experience
